After a lengthy wait the Channel 4 chess site is launched!

PaperMouse and Programmer Simon Cooke were contracted by the CCEA to produce an online chess, 'yes chess', website that is appealing to children. It must cater for the absolute beginner through to the experienced player.

The site is divided into 4 sections. Section 1, called Making the Moves, teaches the basics through the use of Flash generated characters and instructional animated diagrams.

Section 2, called Tips for Playing, goes one step further and teaches intricate moves within the game.

Section3, called Follow the Master, showcases 8 videos from famous chess games over the centuries.

The Final and most impressive section is the 'Check'in your Mates' area. Here you can network gameplay live across the net and put you skills to the test against any opponent. The game works beautifully and the user has a variety of chess sets to choose from.

1) Water Warriors
2) Traditional Troop
3) Battle Bots

Help menus can be activated to aid the user and messages sent via a 'smilie' menu.

Unfortunately I cannot provide direct link to this game as Gridclub is a subscription based site. I will be contacting Channel 4 in the hope of providing a generic username and password
